Embodiment Construction

[0019] The illustrative embodiments recognize and take into account one or more different considerations. For example, the illustrative embodiments recognize and take into account that wing emergency exit door designs must have passenger safety as the utmost concern. The FAA regulations provide airworthiness standards for fuselage exit doors and seek to prevent accidental opening of these doors during flight. These guidelines provide multiple layers of protection against malfunctions, malfunctions, and human error. Accordingly, newer FAA regulations require both the latch system and the locking system, as well as a means to limit the rearward drive of the system from the latch. Previously used wing emergency exit door designs are still present in many currently operating aircraft and may not meet the new requirements. Therefore, new aircraft will require stronger door system designs.

[0020] The illustrative embodiments also recognize and take into account that some curren...

Abstract

A system and method for a wing emergency exit door is provided. The wing emergency exit door system includes a door, a handle connected to an inside surface of the door, a guide rail connected to a body of the aircraft, a roller, a first crank connected to the roller and associated with the handle, a first shaft system attached to the first crank, a latch system connected to the first shaft system, and a locking system associated with the latch system. The latch system includes a rotation stop, a second crank associated with the rotation stop, and a second shaft system connected to the second crank and the rotation stop. The components together control operation of the wing emergency exit door between an open position and a closed position.

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure generally relates to aircraft door structures. More specifically, the present disclosure relates to wing emergency exit door systems in aircraft. Background technique [0002] Airliners are equipped with wing emergency exit doors, which allow passengers to exit in an emergency. Typically, the task of a passenger seated in an emergency exit row is to pull a handle or lever on the door to activate its unlocking and unlatch so that the door can be pushed outward to the open position. Manual unlatch of a door may require a passenger to lift or translate the door before the door can be opened. In an emergency situation where time is of the essence, the complex movement pattern of the wing emergency exit doors may take longer than expected or cause confusion among passengers. [0003] A wing emergency exit door system may have many mechanical parts and / or assemblies other than the door itself. These assemblies are used to properly ...
