Problems solved by technology

A disadvantage of the visually invisible markers known from the prior art that absorb in the working range of about 800 nanometers of common silicon detectors is therefore that that part of the marker that should practically remain hidden from the human eye can be detected without any special difficulty. Embodiment Construction

[0043] figure 1 A simple embodiment of a value document 1 according to the invention is shown. This can be banknotes, for example. In a defined area 2 of the value document 1 , the document contains a marking substance which absorbs in infrared light but is substantially invisible to the eye. The marking substance can, for example, be contained in printing ink and be printed on the document of value 1 . Other coating or transfer methods are also possible. figure 1 In , the region 2 with the marking substance is formed as a simple unstructured surface. However, the marking substance can preferably also be applied in structured form, for example a pattern, a symbol or a barcode. The area 2 provided with the marking substance can also acquire alphanumeric characters, which represent, for example, the serial number of the document.

[0044] figure 2 In , the zone 2 with the marker substance is arranged along a predetermined trajectory 3 . This trajectory with marker substa...

Abstract

The invention relates to a document of value, a security element and a security marking that have a marking substance absorbing in the infrared spectral region between 1000 and 2500 nanometers which does not significantly absorb either in the visible spectral region or at 800 nanometers. Said marking substance is therefore not accessible with the widespread, simple IR readers working at about 800 nanometers. Preferably, an additional print is added that absorbs in the visible and also at about 800 nanometers but not in the range from 1000 to 2500 nanometers. According to the inventive checking method, the marked place is irradiated with infrared light from the range from 1000 to 2500 nanometers and the absorption determined.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to documents of value, security elements and security markings having a marking substance which absorbs light in the infrared spectral region, and also to a detection method and a device for carrying out this detection, the marking substance absorbing light in the visible region The interior has no appreciable absorption and is preferably very transparent. Such marking substances, for example contained in printing inks, can be used to form markings on any objects or their packaging, preferably in the field of authenticity or logistics, for example for detecting and tracking the movement of goods. Background technique [0002] EP 0 340 898 B1 discloses a security code with two identification marks. A signature is substantially colorless and absorbs in the near infrared portion of the electromagnetic spectrum from 700 to 1500 nanometers. The first marking is overprinted with a second colored marking which is opaque in the visible ...
