[0053] Figure 7 is a schematic diagram according to a second embodiment of the present invention. In the first embodiment, the electrodes 21 and 22 are rod-shaped, and protrude into the inside of the water pipe 19 by a predetermined length. However, impurities can cause the rod electrodes to rust, making conduction between the rusted electrodes impossible. In order to prevent this problem, the second embodiment employs plate electrodes 24 and 25 having plates with a wide contact area so that the electrodes can be formed on the wide inner wall of the water pipe 19 .

[0054] It can be easily seen that, according to the second embodiment, the operational reliability of the electrode sensor is more enhanced. Parts not described in the second embodiment are the same as those of the first embodiment.

[0056] Figure 8 is a schematic diagram according to the third embodiment of the present invention. The following will refer to Figure 8 A third embodiment is described.

[0057] In the first and second embodiments, the wall of the water pipe 19 is perforated, and the electrode sensor is installed and fixed therein. However, this manufacturing process requires additional processes such as stamping the water pipe 19 . Considering this problem, a hooking structure can be used to hook the electrode sensor 10 to the upper end of the water pipe 19 integrally formed with the tub 6 and cover it with the bellows 5 to fix the position of the electrode sensor 10 .

[0058] On parts extending from the plate electrodes 26 and 27 , a plurality of bent portions 28 and 29 are formed so that the electrode sensor 10 can be fixed in the water pipe 19 . Specifically, a curved surface forms a bracket 28 hooked to the upper end of the water pipe 19, and the surface extension further forms a g...

Abstract

The invention provides a washing machine. The washing machine includes: a driver, an electrode sensor and a controller. The drive is used to drive every part of the washing machine. The electrode sensor detects foam generation using a voltage change between electrodes when foam generated during a washing cycle contacts the electrodes. The controller uses the foam detection signal from the electrode sensor to control the driver to allow a foam removal cycle. Therefore, when excessive foam is generated during the operation of the washing machine, the generation of foam can be quickly detected and related operations can be performed.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a washing machine, and more particularly, to an apparatus and method for controlling a washing machine capable of enhancing a washing cycle by detecting and cycling the foam when excessive foam is generated during the washing cycle. Background technique [0002] Washing machines can be classified into three types according to the method of carrying out the wash cycle. Specifically, washing machines can be classified into pulsator type washing machines, agitation type washing machines, and drum type washing machines. In the vibratory washing machine, a vibrator is installed on the lower side of a vertically placed drum, rotating water flow is generated by the rotation of the vibrator, and the clothes are washed by friction between the clothes and the water flow. In the agitation type washing machine, an agitator extending vertically from the lower side to the upper side of the drum rotates to generate a rotating water f...
