Abstract

The present invention relates to a liquid crystal display and its drive method. Said liquid crystal display includes liquid crystal display panel, backlight module, dimming control unit and backlight module drive circuit. Said liquid crystal display panel has first display area and second display area. The backlight module includes several luminous elements, these luminous elements are respectively correspondent to the pixels of first display area and second display area. Said dimming control unit is used for producing at least a dimming control signal, and the dimming frequency of the dimming control signal is the multiple of picture refreshed frequency of the liquid crystal display panel. The backlight module drive circuit can be used for cyclically and successively driving luminous elements according to dimming control signal.
