Abstract

The utility model relates to a wireless transmitting / receiving unit (WTRU) or an integrated circuit (IC). The utility model comprises a first management entity, a second management entity and a management information base (MIB) which communicates with the second management entity, wherein the first management entity is used for receiving a piece of first information which comprises a request for management information from an access point (AP) and transmitting a piece of second information which comprises a request for management information to the second management entity. The second management entity is used for deciding to provide management information to respond to the reception of the second information, and if the second management entity decides to provide management information, the management information stored in the MIB can be compiled by the second management entity. The MIB lists a plurality of tables which comprise information associated with radio resource management (RPM) and comprise at least one table for physical layer measurement.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a wireless communication system. More particularly, the present invention relates to a method and system for communicating management information between a wireless transmit / receive unit (WTRU) and an access point (AP) to optimize radio resource management (RRM). Background technique [0002] Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs) are becoming more and more popular due to their convenience and flexibility. And its penetration rate has also increased significantly as expected due to the continuous development of the web application. [0003] The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) working group has defined the IEEE 802.11 baseline standard with extensibility to provide higher data transfer rates and other network functions. Under the IEEE 802.11 standard, a network entity contains a Management Information Base (MIB), which may be a Media Access Control (MAC) layer MIB or a Physical (PHY) layer MIB. ...
