Embodiment Construction

[0021] The invention will now be described, by way of example only, with reference to the accompanying drawings.

[0022] Referring to the drawings, the container 1 is mounted within an ISO frame 3 and is cylindrical with rounded or hemispherical ends 5 and 7 . The container 1 is capable of withstanding considerable internal pressure and is provided with an upper inlet 9 through which bulk granular material can be loaded into the container.

[0023] Inside the container 1 is mounted a cone assembly 11 comprising three conical discharge hoppers 13, 15 and 17 connected together. Each of the outlet hoppers 13 , 15 and 17 has a flat closed apex 19 which is bolted to the bottom of the container 1 as shown in detail in FIG. 2 .

[0024] The upper edges of the outlet hoppers 13 , 15 and 17 are shaped to fit snugly along and against the inner surface of the container 1 . Where the two outlet hoppers join together, the upper edge is suitably shaped. The assembly can be imagined as c...

Abstract

A container for the transport or storage of a bulk granular product is of generally cylindrical shape. Within the container is located a substantially conical exit hopper (13, 15, 17) and means (21) to convey the granular product from the exit hopper to the exterior of the container.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to containers, in particular to containers for storing and transporting granular products. Such products include, for example, plastic pellets, grains, sugar, and soap powder. Background technique [0002] Granular products are usually drained from storage and shipping containers by gravity towards an opening located at the bottom of the container. [0003] Road vehicles have been used to transport granular products for about 30 years. In most cases the usually cylindrical container forms part of a road vehicle. Containers separate from the vehicle were introduced about 5 years ago. The container, still usually cylindrical, is mounted in an ISO frame and the whole assembly is carried by a vehicle. [0004] The bottom of such known containers can be shaped to facilitate the discharge of granular products. However, this has the disadvantage that the relatively complex shaped container is expensive to manufacture and wil...
