Abstract

The invention provides a method for selecting a communication channel of wireless local area network. When the transmission amount of the system information packet is smaller than the preset reference value, promiscuous mode of the wireless local area network is used for measuring the amount of the dumb element information packet of each channel and the channel with the smallest communication amount is selected. The control division finds the transmission amount of the system information packet transmitted by the channel which is selected by the wireless local area network and calculates the average value. When the average value decreases below the preset reference value, the control division sets the communication mode of the wireless local area network as the promiscuous mode and measures the amount of the dumb element information packet of each channel. The channel with the smallest amount of the dumb element information packet in the measured results is selected as the channel to transmit information packets of wireless local area network. The system information packets can be transmitted stably and smoothly through the local area network, so the service quality of the wireless local area network is improved. Besides, sensitivity to instant changes of the transmission amount is reduced, the amount of the actual dumb element information packet of each channel can be measured correctly and the condition of the communication amount of each channel can be mastered accurately.
