The invention provides a method and a system for monitoring network videos. The method comprises the following steps that: a video capture device and a monitoring end respectively apply for registration to a video management server; the monitoring end applies for the connection with the video capture device; after successful connection, the video capture device forwards video data to the monitoring end through the video management server. The system comprises the video capture device, the monitoring end and the video management server, which are used for complete the steps of the method. The method and the system realize the on-site monitoring through a point-to-multipoint mode, i.e. one monitoring end can simultaneously monitor a plurality of video capture devices, or one video capture device can be monitored simultaneously by a plurality of monitoring ends.
