The invention discloses a method for detecting optical properties, a system thereof and apparatus for controlling the detection of optical properties, wherein the method for detecting the optical properties comprises the following steps: a detection request carrying detection parameters therein is received; the detection parameters comprise the size of a screen to be detected and the quantity of points to be detected; the coordinates of the points to be detected corresponding to the detection parameters are obtained in a database; a video signal generator is controlled to input a video signal to a displaying apparatus to be detected or a back light source; the displaying apparatus to be detected or the back light source is moved by a controlling motor, so as to cause chroma meters to move to the coordinates of the points to be detected in sequence; the brightness value and the chromatic value of the screen to be detected are detected in the coordinates of the points to be detected; detected brightness value and chromatic value of each point to be detected are calculated and processed, so as to obtain the brightness parameters, the chromatic parameters and the color reductive parameters of the displaying apparatus to be detected or the back light source to be output, as well as to generate the color gamut images of the displaying apparatus to be detected or the back light source to be output.
