Embodiment Construction

[0025] FIG. 1 shows a schematic diagram of a circuit arrangement commonly used in motor vehicles for controlling the power flow of a fan or an oil pump.

[0026] A master ("MSG") 1 forms a data source connected via a bidirectional bus 6 to a slave ("LSG") 2 (data sink). The two devices 1, 2 are powered by the vehicle battery ("VBatt", "0"). The slave control device 2 controls the ventilator 3 . The master control device 1 has a master control unit 4 which is connected on the input side to the CAN bus (terminals “CAN_HI” and “CAN_LO” in FIG. 1 ). The pulse width modulation signal (referred to below as PWM signal) generated in the main control unit 1 is continuously output at the output terminal ("HI_LO_Bus") and reaches the base of the transistor "TM" via the resistor "R1M". The collector of transistor "TM" is connected to one end of single-wire interface 6 in node "KM". Resistor "RG" connects node "KM" to the ground (0) of the car battery. The other end of the single-wire ...

Abstract

In a method for transmitting data between a master control unit and a slave control unit, the master control unit (4) outputs a pulse width-modulated signal (7) at an output terminal (HI_LO_BUS) in order to transmit the same to the slave control unit (5) via a bus (6). The method includes the steps: the slave control unit (5) generates an acknowledgement signal at periodic acknowledgement intervals (TQuitt); the slave control unit (5) influences the pulse width-modulated signal (7) transmitted on the bus (6) during the acknowledgement interval (TQuitt); the master control unit (4) detects theinfluenced pulse width-modulated signal (7), the pulse width-modulated signal (7) output at the output signal terminal (HI_LO_BUS) being read back at an input signal terminal (Read_Back_Bus) of the master control unit (4).

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a method for transmitting information between a master control unit and a slave control unit, wherein the master control unit outputs a pulse width modulated signal at an output terminal in order to transmit the signal to the slave control unit via a bus. Background technique [0002] Modern motor vehicles are equipped with networked control units, wherein a large amount of information about the state of the electrical and mechanical components of the vehicle is transmitted between the control units. Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) has proven particularly well as a transmission method in motor vehicles due to its simplicity and immunity to interference. [0003] For example, one application is the transmission of control information for fan motors or pump motors, where a pulse width modulated signal is generated in the master control device and transmitted to a remote controller at a distance from the master control device via a b...
