Abstract

The embodiment of the invention discloses a method and a device for establishing redundant spaces on a magnetic disc. The method comprises: aiming at at least two groups of redundant spaces required to be set, receiving the target capacity of each group of redundant spaces inputted by a user, the level of redundant arrays of inexpensive discs (RAID) and number information of member discs, and determining a corresponding magnetic disc set for the each group of redundant spaces according to the number information of the member discs; and establishing the at least two groups of redundant spaces which are mutually independent on the magnetic disc set, wherein the redundant spaces correspond to logical unit numbers LUN one by one. According to the embodiment, the reconstruction time of disc spaces can be reduced when the disc spaces are required to be reconstructed after the LUNs are established for the disc spaces.
