Abstract

The invention discloses a method for realizing the updating of a home gateway. The method comprises the following steps of: electrifying the home gateway, determining the working mode and accessing into the network; initiating the updating request of a reserved version to a version server and receiving the reserved time of the version server distributed by the information carried in the updating request of reserved version; then sending the updating request to the reserved version when the reserved time arrives according to the reserved time; and then receiving the version files from the version server and executing the version updating. The invention also discloses a system used for realizing the updating of the home gateway; and by initiating the updating request of the reserved version by the home gateway, the version server reserves the updating time and executes the version updating to the home gateway when the reserved time arrives, thus improving the efficiency and success rate of the version updating.
