The method for lateral load distribution of a load equalizer comprises the steps of: acquiring current remaining load capacities of various affiliated application servers; determining the message distribution weight of each application server according to the remaining load capacities of the affiliated application servers; and receiving a first message of initial session protocol messages which come from a client, referring the message distribution weights of the application servers, selecting one of the application servers, and sending the first message of the initial session protocol messages to the application server for processing.
