Problems solved by technology

Holter devices and actigraphy can be used to measure and record ECG signals 24 hours a day over multiple weeks, but these devices must be worn continuously while they are in use
Devices that allow the patient to independently perform each 30-second or 1-minute ECG and then remove the device until the next measurement time are not currently available

Embodiment Construction

[0020] first reference figure 1 , a patient 102 is shown wearing an ECG monitoring device 250 of the present invention. ECG monitoring device 250 includes a plurality of electrodes 204 and can be adhesively connected to patient 102 by maintaining seal 202 . The ECG monitoring device 250 includes a retaining sleeve or clip 260 that can be used to removably attach a small monitor / recorder device 264 . The clip 260 is formed with wires 206 that can be connected to the small monitor / recorder device 264 when the small monitor / recorder device 264 is clipped in place, thereby allowing the electrical signal detected by the electrodes 204 to be connected to the monitor. Recorder / recorder device 264. As is clear from the figures, ECG monitoring device 250 is relatively compact and does not have multiple wires extending across patient 102 torso. Furthermore, having a small monitor / recorder device 264 clipped to the ECG monitoring device 250 provides a compact medical monitor / recorder ...

Abstract

An ECG monitoring device comprises an integral handheld device including a ECG electronic module and an electrode patch having a plurality of electrodes which contact a subject by conductive hydrogel. A release liner covers and protects the hydrogel prior to use and is removed to expose the hydrogel. A second release liner is removed to expose a pressure sensitive adhesive by means of which the device is attached to a subject. The first and second release liners may be parts of a single release liner layer. After use the electrode patch is disposable and the ECG electronic module is detached from the patch for reuse.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a hand-held device for performing medical diagnostics, and more particularly to a hand-held device that can be repositioned on the body to detect and / or record ECG waveforms. Background technique [0002] During many patient examination procedures, it is often necessary to quickly ascertain the patient's condition by measuring certain patient parameters, such as blood pressure, temperature, blood oxygenation, blood glucose levels, and cardiac function. Devices are available that allow medical practitioners to quickly measure a patient's blood pressure, temperature, and blood glucose levels. The device currently used for rapid cardiac function monitoring is a stethoscope. If a doctor wishes to observe a patient's heart rhythm or ECG (electrocardiogram), it takes time to attach 5 to 12 electrodes to the patient's chest, arms, and legs, connect each lead to a wire, and record, download, and finally Observe the ECG. This...
