Abstract

The invention discloses an automobile active safety system based on monocular machine vision and a control method thereof. The system comprises an input device, an output device and a processor. The input device comprises a speed transducer, an acceleration transducer, a brake signal transducer and a camera. The output device is a brake actuator. The method comprises the following steps: performing internal and external calibrations by the camera; collecting target obstacle information by the camera, and calculating the distance between the automobile and the target obstacle in real time by the processor; calculating the safety distance under the current operating mode; and judging whether the distance between the automobile and the target obstacle is less than the safety distance, and determining whether the brake actuator brakes automatically according to whether a driver brakes. By adopting a method for measuring distance based on single-frame static images and a method for setting the safety distance reflecting the driving characteristics of the driver, the safety system has high precision and strong adaptability.
