Abstract

In the operating state, fresh air is sucked in by the exhaust-gas turbocharger and supplied as scavenging air via the scavenging slots to the cylinders at a predetermined charge pressure, so that an ignition gas mixture is created in the cylinders from the scavenging air and fuel.
