Problems solved by technology

However, even in this case, if, for example, the mobile device moves too fast or if it moves back and forth between AP2 1070 and AP4 1080 (this situation is often referred to as "ping-pong (ping-pong)"), then in Movement between AP2 1070 and AP4 1080 causes out-of-order delivery of registrations to LMA 1010
As can be appreciated, moving back and forth can cause communication problems within domain 1000

Embodiment Construction

[0024] Systems and methods are provided to facilitate message sequencing in network-based mobility management systems. In one aspect, a method of communication is provided. The method includes initiating registration with a network domain node and generating sequence information regarding the registration. This sequence information is then used to facilitate further communications with the network domain node. For example, a network domain node may be a local mobility anchor utilizing exemplary protocols such as proxy mobile internet protocol and network-based local mobility management protocol.

[0025] Additionally, various aspects are described herein in connection with terminals. A terminal can also be called a system, a user device, a subscriber unit, a subscriber station, mobile station, mobile device, remote station, remote terminal, access terminal, user terminal, user agent, or user equipment. The user device can be a cellular phone, a cordless phone, a Session Ini...

Abstract

The claimed subject matter relates to systems and methods for processing messages in a wireless communications environment. In an aspect, a communications method is provided. The method includes initiating a registration (270,290) with a network domain node (210), which may be a Local Mobility Anchor (LMA), and generating sequence information with respect to the registration. The registration maybe triggered by a communication link creation (240,284). This can take different forms, including some form of an L2 connection request, e.g., Address Resolution Protocol (ARP), Neighbor Discovery (ND), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) or other protocol. The sequence information is then employed to facilitate further communications with the network domain node, in particular to prevent out of order delivery of registrations to the network domain node (210), e.g., in a condition, commonly referred to as 'ping-pong'. When Proxy Mobile IP is being used, the sequence data is generated bya Proxy Mobile (410) and dispatched to the access points (450,460).

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims the benefit of US Patent Application No. 60 / 885,983, entitled "A METHOD ANDAPPARATUS FOR MOBILITY MANAGEMENT MES SAGE ORDERING," filed January 22, 2007, which is hereby incorporated by reference in its entirety. technical field [0003] The following description relates generally to communication systems and, more specifically, to sequencing registration messages destined for an access point in communication with a mobile device. Background technique [0004] Communications networks, such as wireless communication networks, broadband networks, and other suitable networks, are used to communicate data, which may include word processing files, streaming video, multimedia files, voice data, and the like. Such networks often employ protocols such as the Internet Protocol (IP) to communicate data in accordance with a public network such as the Internet. An extension of the IP protocol concerns mobil...
