Abstract

The invention relates to an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing receiver and a receiving method thereof. The orthogonal frequency division multiplexing receiver (OFDM receiver) is used for receiving RF signals and comprises a memory device shared by an equalizer and a diversity combiner module. The receiver comprises an FFT module for receiving time domain symbols and converting the time domain symbols into OFDM symbols; the memory device for storing a first OFDM symbol set in a single chip mode, and storing a second OFDM symbol set in a diversity mode; the equalizer for receiving and equalizing OFDM symbols, wherein OFDM symbols come from one of the memory device and the FFT module; and the diversity combiner module for receiving alignment signals and data symbols from the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing receiver. The first OFDM symbol set is different from the second OFDM symbol set, and the former has more symbols from the FFT module than the latter. By the flexible operating mode, the receiving quality of OFDM is improved and the memory consumption is reduced.
