Abstract

The invention relates to a method for preparing active carbon for refining a petroleum product. The active carbon comprises the following raw materials in percentage by weight: 30 to 80 percent of petroleum coke, 10 to 60 percent of coal, 0.1 to 30 percent of pore-forming agent and 9.9 to 30 percent of adhesive, wherein the pore-forming agent is vacuum residuum, coked residuum, ethylene cracking residuum, hydro-cracking residuum or mixture thereof. The preparation method comprises the following steps of: mixing the petroleum coke and the coal uniformly, and crushing the petroleum coke and thecoal into 100 to 200 meshes; adding the pore-forming agent into the mixture, stirring the mixture till uniform mixing, and adding the adhesive into the mixture to perform stirring, mixing and kneading; controlling the carbonization temperature to be between 450 and 600 DEG C; and controlling the activation temperature to be between 750 and 1,000 DEG C, and introducing water vapor into the activated material at the speed of 1 to 2 kilograms per hour in each kilogram of activated material. The active carbon has the characteristics of low ash content, high strength, good adsorption performance and the like, and can be used for refining of the petroleum product, water treatment and the like.
