The invention relates to a composition with effect of treating gout. The composition is characterized by consisting of the following ingredients in percentage by weight: 20 to 30 percent of codonopsis alpina, 20 to 30 percent of tinospora sinensis merr, 12 to 20 percent of costustoot, 12 to 20 percent of nardostachyos root and rhizome and 12 to 20 percent of northern corydalis bungeana. The composition of the invention has the effects of clearing heat and releasing toxin, eliminating swelling and stopping pain, and dispelling wind and removing dampness. The composition is mainly used for treating gout. The composition overcomes the defects that the symptoms can be cured, the root cause cannot be cured, the medicament has high toxicity, the disease is susceptible to relapse after treatment, and the total effect of the treatment is not good enough in the conventional treating method.
