Abstract

The invention discloses a selecting and breeding method for long-grained hybrid japonica rice. The method comprises the following steps of: (1) selecting a long-grained type rice resource material as a donor parent; (2) respectively hybridizing the donor parent carried with long-grained type gene and the traditional round-grained japonica rice restorer line and japonica rice maintainer line; (3) in the separation process of offspring, selecting seeds with rice grain length greater than or equal to 6.5mm harvested from single plants; (4) performing test mating on the stabled long-grained type material obtained from the step (3) with a japonica rice sterile line, and selecting to obtain a long-grained restorer line and a long-grained japonica rice sterile line; and (6) performing test mating on the long-grained japonica rice sterile line obtained from the step (5) with the long-grained restorer line obtained from the step (4), and preparing a new long-grained hybrid japonica rice variety.
