The method includes the steps: receiving the address variable of a currently tested communication port when communication ports are switched; determining the currently tested communication port according to the address variable; and displaying the definition of data bits in bytes of the currently tested communication port in the test on a test interface of communication port test software. The address variable is used for identifying the address of the currently tested communication port and identifying the currently tested communication port only corresponding to the address.
