Abstract

The invention discloses a system for obtaining position information of a terminal, relating to the field of mobile communication. The system comprises a position tracking server, an access controller, a wireless access point and a terminal, wherein the terminal is interacted with the access controller through the wireless access point, and is associated to the wireless access point after being subjected to access authentication; the access controller is used for initializing the access authentication to the terminal and obtaining an MAC address of the terminal when the terminal is associated to the wireless access point and distributing an IP address for the terminal; and the position tracking server is used for scanning the access controller, inquiring configuration position information of the wireless access point and the MAC address of the terminal and further obtaining region information of a geographic position in which a user corresponding to the terminal is. The system provided by the invention only requires that the terminal supports the wireless signal access without installing location client software on the terminal, and is lower in requirement of the terminal.
