The generator comprises a front bearing assembly, a rotor, an inner stator fitting, an outer stator fitting and a rear bearing assembly. The assembly method comprises the following steps of: inserting a guide rod into a top end mounting hole in a rear support of the rotor, and introducing and fixedly connecting the rotor; inserting a guide rod into a middle mounting hole of the rear support of the rotor, and mounting the inner stator fitting; inserting a guide rod into a mounting hole in a generator casing, passing the guide rod through a mounting hole in a rear flange, and mounting the outer stator fitting; mounting the front bearing assembly, and fixedly connecting a turntable of the rotor with the front end of the rotor; and fixedly connecting one end of a front flange with the front end of the generator casing, and fixedly connecting the other end of the front flange with the front bearing assembly.
