Certain aspects of the invention relate to techniques for touch temperature management of wireless communication devices based on power drawn over time and possibly internal temperature readings. For example, information about power consumed over time may be used along with monitored internal temperatures of the device's internal circuitry to reduce transmit power and / or data rates as needed to keep the wireless device's surface temperature below specified limits.
