Problems solved by technology

However, emergencies can occur in various places (enclosed premises, elevators, basements, canyons, mountains, etc.) where landline or cellular network range is not always available
Thus, although the percentage of people who carry a mobile phone with them everywhere tends to reach 100%, current telecommunications systems do not always allow for signaling of emergencies via phone calls or messages

[0019] In the following descriptions, the following names listed below with their corresponding definitions will be used:

[0020] - Alarms: signaling of emergency situations to be sent to the PSAP (see below);

[0021] - Cooperating devices: devices having such characteristics that enable cooperation in the sending of said alerts;

[0022] - Alarm device: a device, possibly a cooperating device, in which an alarm is generated and the process of sending said alarm is directed;

[0023] - relay equipment: (collaboration) equipment through which said alarm signals and other signals flow during the relay process;

[0024] - Exploring Devices: (cooperating) devices which, when receiving an Exploring Command (see below), are ordered to issue an Exploring Signal;

[0025] - PSAP: Public Safety Answering Point, i.e., Emergency Management Centre;

[0026] - emergency network: the telecommunication network to which the PSAP is connected;

Abstract

A process is described for transmitting at least one alarm signal from an alarmed apparatus to a PSAP (Public Safety Answering Point, 127), through a system composed of a plurality of cooperating apparatuses (101, 104, 108, 106, 116, 119, 111, 124, 122) comprising at least one such alarmed apparatus (101) and at least one responding apparatus, said apparatuses being equipped at least with memory means, processing means and a first radio system for direct reception / transmission, from apparatus to apparatus, of signals and data, and said plurality of cooperating apparatus comprising at least one apparatus (124, 122) equipped with means adapted to transmit said alarm signal to said PSAP (127). An apparatus is also described which is adapted to implement the above process.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a process and a device for sending alert messages in emergency situations from devices that do not have access to the public telecommunication network when required. Background technique [0002] Sending alarms over telecommunication systems to signal emergency situations is a service that many national and international agencies have maintained at great expense and invested many resources, so much so that in 1990 the European harmonized emergency number (112) was defined as an emergency call. [0003] As cellular telephones become more and more popular, steps have been taken to define emergency call systems that allow quick warning of rescuers in case of road accidents. Regulations on the content and format for data transmission have been defined, eg like those on the geographic coordinates of the device originating the call. [0004] Also defined are modes for the generation of automatic emergency calls by terminals ...
