The automatic identification method comprises the following steps: 1) decomposing the color channels of a microsection image, and independently calculating chromatic index distribution according to three color channels; 2) converting a colorful image into a gray-scale image, and calculating the chromatic index distribution; 3) according to the chromatic index distribution, calculating color features which comprise a mean value, a median, a variance, skewness and a peak value index; and 4) taking the microsection image as a color feature value vector, and automatically identifying whether the granite microsection is granite by adopting Adaboost technology. The granite microsection is automatically identified by applying information processing technology, fully utilizes the optical property and the lithology composition of the granite, is simple and efficient in calculation and exhibits expansibility.
