The method comprises the following steps: traversing all applications in the application database of a Windows system; specific to each traversed application, accessing a directory named by using the identity of the application in the installation directory of the Windows system through a file access interface function; if an access result is an abnormal result which indicates non-authorization, confirming that the application is installed in the Windows system; if the access result is an abnormal result which indicates that a file does not exist, confirming that the application is not installed in the Windows system, wherein the Windows system is a Windows Phone system or a Windows RT system. By adopting the technical scheme of the invention, the defect that third-party application management is not supported due to closure of the Windows system is overcome, scanning detection of the applications installed in the Windows system is realized, user requirements are met, and the user experience is improved.
