[0108] animal
[0109] Male CD2F1 mice (BALB / c x DBA / 2, Harlan / Charles River, Netherlands) aged 6-7 weeks were individually housed in a temperature-controlled room (12:12 light-dark cycle, constant room temperature of 21±1°C) . After one week of acclimatization, the mice were divided into weight-matched groups: (1) a control group receiving a control diet, (2) a tumor-bearing group receiving a control diet, and (3) a tumor-bearing group receiving an experimental diet. The data shown are from the combination of several experimental sessions with the same animal characteristics and experimental procedures (unless otherwise stated) and differ only by the experimental diet employed. All experimental procedures were approved by the Animal Ethics Committee (DEC Committee, Bilthoven, The Netherlands) and followed principles of good laboratory animal care.
