The invention provides a safe and efficient animal semen disinfector and a preparation method therefor, which are aimed to fill the blank of animal semen disinfectors in the market. The safe and efficient animal semen disinfector includes the following components in percentage by weight: 4.0 to 6.0 percent of povidone iodine, 0.5 to 1.0 percent of antimicrobial peptides, 0.2 to 0.3 percent of vitamins, 0.1 to 0.2 percent of ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid, and distilled water. A mixture of the povidone iodine and the antimicrobial peptides is used as the semen disinfector for semen purification and disinfection for economic animals. Tests prove that the animal semen disinfector can safely kill the five commonest and most harmful viruses in boar semen, i.e., classical swine fever virus (CSFV), porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV-2), pseudorabies virus (PRV), porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV), and porcine parvovirus (PPV), as well as other most pathogenic microorganisms; meanwhile, the animal semen disinfector can prolong the sperm motility and the sperm preservation time to a certain extent, and is non-toxic and harmless to fertilized ovums and embryos.
