Problems solved by technology

These scaled-down versions typically have large overall interconnect dimensions relative to the contact pitch, especially when additional components are included such as, for example, a latch / ejection mechanism or cable strain relief, and are susceptible to mechanical Reliability and electrical reliability issues, are inherently expensive to manufacture, and offer limited or no customization to meet specific end-user needs

Abstract

The present invention provides a latch for securing and ejecting a mating connector from a connector housing, the latch including a hinge portion configured to lock the latch pivotally attached to the connector housing; an arm portion extending in a first direction from a first side of the hinge portion; and a pair of discrete and spaced hinge arms extending from the hinge portion The opposite second side of the hinge portion extends in a second direction different from the first direction. The hinge arm is configured to eject the mating connector through a pair of corresponding spaced latch openings extending through the bottom wall of the connector housing and through the side walls.

Description

[0001] priority statement [0002] This patent application claims priority to US Provisional Patent Application No. 61 / 596055, filed February 7, 2012. technical field [0003] The present disclosure generally relates to interconnections between printed circuit boards and cables that carry signals to or from the printed circuit boards. More particularly, the present disclosure relates to electrical connector systems including electrical connectors for assembly to printed circuit boards and mating electrical connectors for assembly to electrical cables to facilitate these interconnections. Background technique [0004] Interconnections between printed circuit boards and cables are known in the art. Such interconnections are usually not difficult to form, especially when the signal line density is relatively low. As users have higher and higher requirements on interconnect size, it becomes more and more difficult to design and manufacture interconnectors with satisfactory phy...
