The server comprises a BMC chip and is connected with a monitoring terminal device and a database through a network. The BMC firmware automatic update method comprises the steps of opening the BMC automatic update function of the server and setting a monitoring time period of a monitoring dog through an operating system of the server; starting the monitoring dog to perform timing on the monitoring time period; resetting the monitoring time period into an initial value when the monitoring time period ends; downloading the latest version of BMC firmware data from the database and automatically updating the latest version of BMC firmware data into a corresponding storage area of a memory of the BMC chip when the current BMC firmware in the memory needs to be updated. According to the BMC firmware automatic update system and method, the BMC firmware data stored in BMC chips of servers can be automatically updated and accordingly the working complexity of manual refreshing of the BMC firmware data is reduced and the error probability in the process of refreshing is reduced.
