Problems solved by technology

However, GSNR optimality cannot guarantee bit error rate (BER)
Also, the EF system cannot adopt the Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (H-ARQ) fast repeat system built into Long Term Evolution (LTE) and similar standards
Thus, any data error in the EF system may result in packet re-requests affecting network congestion

Abstract

A technique is generally proposed for relay-and-forward systems that combines the data efficiency of soft forwarding for increased generalized signal-to-noise ratio (GSNR) with the ability to use hybrid automatic repeat request (H-ARQ), which can be achieved by using instead of packet Heavy request fixes to keep throughput levels fairly high. A repeater may receive an incoming signal and perform both soft-forwarding and non-repeating hard decoding for the relayed destination within the repeater. The hard decoding results can be locally analyzed for errors to detect suspicious bit errors, and H-ARQ ACK / NACK signals can be sent so that they can be retransmitted before the rolling buffer in the repeater reaches the end of the frame.

Description

Background technique [0001] Unless otherwise indicated herein, the materials described in this section are not admitted to be prior art to the claims in this application by inclusion in this section and are not admitted to be prior art to the claims in this application. [0002] Memoryless relay protocols have become increasingly popular due to their low complexity, small processing latency, and low energy consumption. Such relay protocols can be mainly classified into three types: amplify and forward (AF), detect and forward (DF), and estimate and forward (EF). In general, any implementation (including DF and some AF implementations) that parses symbolic and numeric data before re-encoding and sending it again becomes a "hard" forward due to loss of the original signal. Relay protocols in which signals are retransmitted based on phase and magnitude (including EF and some AF implementations) are known as "soft" forwarding because they can be employed through data reconstructi...
