A system or method consistent with an embodiment of the present invention is useful in analyzing large volumes of different types of data, such as textual data, numeric data, categorical data, or sequential string data, for use in identifying relationships among the data types or different operations that have been performed on the data. A system or method consistent with the present invention determines and displays the relative content and context of related information and is operative to aid in identifying relationships among disparate data types. Various data types, such as numerical data, protein and DNA sequence data, categorical information, and textual information, such as annotations associated with the numerical data or research papers may be correlated for visual analysis. A variety of user-selectable views may be correlated for user interaction to identify relationships that exist among the different types of data or various operations performed on the data.

Furthermore, the user may explore the information contained in sets of records and their associated attributes through the use of interactive 2-D line charts and interactive summary miniplots.

Methods and systems provide a “chart view” for a markup language referred to as Reusable Data Markup Language (“RDML”). Generally, a chart view comprises the components necessary for automatically manipulating and displaying a graphical display of numerical data contained in RDML markup documents. RDML is a markup language, such as the Hypertext Markup Language (“HTML”) or the Extensible Markup Language (“XML”). Generally, RDML facilitates the browsing and manipulation of numbers, as opposed to text as in HTML, and does so by requiring attributes describing the meaning of the numbers to be attached to the numbers. Upon receiving RDML markup documents, the chart view transforms, formats, manipulates and displays data stored in the markup documents using the attributes describing the meaning of the data. The chart view uses the attributes of the numbers to, for example, facilitate the simultaneous display of different series of numbers of different types on a single chart and automatically display appropriate axis labels, axis titles, chart titles, number precision, etc. A chart view may be a component of a data viewer used to retrieve, manipulate, and view documents in the RDML format.

A system, method, and computer program product to automatically eliminate the distribution information available for reconstruction from a disguised dataset. The invention flattens input numerical values into a substantially uniformly distributed dataset, then maps the uniformly distributed dataset into equivalent data in a target distribution. The invention allows the incremental encryption of new values in an encrypted database while leaving existing encrypted values unchanged. The flattening comprises (1) partitioning, (2) mapping, and (3) saving auxiliary information about the data processing, which is encrypted and not updated. The partitioning is MDL based, and includes a growth phase for dividing a space into fine partitions and a prune phase for merging some partitions together.

A cooking appliance employing rapid cook technology includes an electronic oven control system employing an alpha-numeric data entry and display arrangement. The cooking appliance includes a display which incorporates a series of vertically spaced information display zones, with each of the zones being capable of displaying both alpha and numeric data to a user of the appliance. Text and numeric data can be entered by the user through a ten-digit keypad provided on a control panel of the appliance. An electronic programming guide (“EPG”) in accordance with the invention provides pictograms and/or logos, to indicate to a television viewer the television programs being displayed on a television. The EPG information display format is thus easier to recognize than prior art EPG formats. In one embodiment, the EPG pictograms have 3D characteristics. The EPG information can be displayed in a window within a television screen while a program is being shown on the remainder of the screen. Thus, the viewer can know what is playing on the various channels while he or she is watching one of the channels. In one embodiment, the EPG is used in conjunction with a remote controller that includes a help button for facilitating operation of the EPG by the user. The EPG comprises a set of geometric surfaces located in virtual 3D space. The video clips can comprise video programs, preview clips, or video data stored on a hard drive. The appearance of the pictograms, logos, alpha-numeric data and/or video clips can be modified in response to a user actuating a control element on a remote controller. Such modification can include changing the position of the geometric surface, or its lighting. All or some of the pictograms, logos, alpha-numeric data and video clips can be changed over time based on broadcast data. In one embodiment, internet HTML pages are parsed and applied to geometric surfaces in 3D virtual space.

A virtual vocabulary database is provided for use with a with a particular user database as part of a speech recognition system. Vocabulary elements within the virtual database are imported from the user database and are tagged to include numerical data corresponding to the historical use of the vocabulary element within the user database. For each speech input, potential vocabulary element matches from the speech recognition system are provided to the virtual database software which creates virtual sub-vocabularies from the criteria according to predefined criteria templates. The software then applies vocabulary element weighting adjustments according to the virtual sub-vocabulary weightings and applies the adjustment to the default weighting provided by the speech recognition system. The modified weightings are returned with the associated vocabulary elements to the speech engine for selection of an appropriate match to the input speech.

An operator at the job site scans a bar code on the truck to log arrival of the load and creates a scan record of the arriving or departing truck. From the entry, a bitmap having bits indicating the presence or absence of data corresponding to different keys within the first range of numeric data is read. Data corresponding to the first key is located using the bitmap.

A method for operating a computerized system for processing cashless and cardless financial transactions, the method comprising the steps of: registering a user's fingerprint with an entity, by using the user's fingerprint to create a first image of the user's fingerprint and then storing the first image of the user's fingerprint in a digital database of the entity; associating the first image of the user's fingerprint, now registered, with at least one debit or credit account of the user; receiving, through a transaction device, a request to authorize a financial transaction, wherein said request comprises a second image of the user's fingerprint taken by the transaction device at the time the request to authorize the financial transaction is made; and, authenticating the request to authorize the financial transaction, by comparing in real time, through a computer network, the second image with the first image of the user's fingerprint.

The method disclosed by the invention is simple and easy to operate, has high safety and is unlikely to crack; the commodity anti-counterfeiting codes generated in batch have uniqueness and unforgeability.
