The dimming mode detection method comprises the steps that direct current bus voltages are sampled to generate voltage sampling signals; the rise time needed by the voltage sampling signals increasing from a second threshold value to a first threshold value is compared with a first time threshold value so as to judge whether the LED drive device is connected to a front cut dimmer or not; the fall time needed by the voltage sampling signals reduced from a third threshold value to a fourth threshold value is compared with a second time threshold value so as to judge whether the LED drive device is connected to a back cut dimmer or not; if whether the LED drive device is connected to the front cut dimmer or the back cut dimmer is not detected within preset duration, the LED drive device is not connected to the dimmers.
