Abstract

The present invention relates to systems and methods for controlling the temperature of molten salts. A molten salt solar tower system (100) is provided for controlling the temperature of molten salt in a solar receiver (130) for efficient operation of the system (100) without degrading the physical properties of the molten salt. The system (100) includes two loops, a first loop (140) and a second loop (150). The first loop (140) is configured to supply relatively cool molten salt at the solar receiver (130) for heating, and the second loop (150) is configured to supply the relatively hot molten salt when circulating through the solar receiver (130). When the temperature exceeds its preset temperature value, a predetermined amount of relatively cool molten salt is supplied in the first circuit (140).
