Abstract

The invention provides a method for extracting (R)-3-carboxyl-alpha-hydroxyphenyl propionic acid from frangipane. The method comprises the following steps: extracting the frangipane through extracting solution, and then filtering frangipane, so as to obtain filtrate; performing concentration treatment on solvent till no alcohol taste exists, so as to obtain frangipane total extract; performing column chromatography isolation and elution on the frangipane total extract, so as to obtain crude products; performing recrystallization on the crude products at the room temperature, so as to obtain (R)-3-carboxyl-alpha-hydroxyphenyl propionic acid. The invention further provides application of the (R)-3-carboxyl-alpha-hydroxyphenyl propionic acid extracted through the method as a tobacco irritation reducing agent, and a cigarette. According to the method, the (R)-3-carboxyl-alpha-hydroxyphenyl propionic acid, with the purity being greater than 98 percent, is extracted for the first time. The compound can be partly transferred to smoke to be combined with free nicotine, or the combination of the compound and the free nicotine is transferred to the smoke, so that the nicotine content of the smoke is reduced, and the irritation of the smoke is reduced.
