Problems solved by technology

At present, various cotton verticillium wilt control measures, including physical control, chemical control, biological control and other methods, are difficult to control cotton, so breeding and utilizing varieties resistant to verticillium wilt is the most economical and effective solution to this problem way
Although my country has achieved remarkable results in breeding for resistance to Fusarium wilt, the progress of cotton breeding for resistance to Verticillium wilt is slow due to the lack of sources of resistance to Verticillium wilt

Abstract

The invention relates to plant gene cloning and functional analysis, and belongs to the field of plant genetic engineering, specifically a cotton GhEDR2 gene and its encoded protein and its application. According to the relative conservation of homologous gene sequences, the invention searches for a disease-resistant gene related to Arabidopsis thaliana Cotton EST fragments with cDNA homology, partially overlapping and highly homologous cotton EST sequences were assembled to form a complete ORF cDNA sequence, specific PCR primers were designed according to these sequences, and the GhEDR2 gene was obtained by RT‑PCR . Using qPCR analysis, it was found that the expression of this gene in cotton plants exhibited tissue-specific characteristics. Moreover, the incidence of Verticillium wilt in transgenic plants was significantly lower than that in non-transgenic plants. Therefore, using the GhEDR2 gene of the present invention to breed Verticillium wilt-resistant plants will have broad prospects in plant disease-resistant breeding.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to plant gene cloning and functional analysis, and belongs to the field of plant genetic engineering, in particular to a cotton GhEDR2 gene and its encoded protein and its application, which are used to improve plant disease resistance through plant genetic engineering technology. Background technique [0002] Cotton is an economic crop that occupies an important position in my country's national economy. Verticillium wilt of cotton is one of the worldwide diseases, which seriously restricts the steady development of cotton industry. In recent years, the occurrence area of cotton Verticillium wilt is increasing, and the incidence area accounts for about 50% of the total cotton area. Cotton Verticillium wilt is a fungal vascular system disease caused by Verticillium dahliae infection, which is a soil-borne disease. The host range of Verticillium dahliae in cotton is very wide, including more than 200 kinds of plants such as cot...
