[0028] In accordance with the teachings of the present invention, a complementary output generator (COG) module generates at least two complementary signals determined by rising and falling event sources. In a simple configuration of the COG module, the rising and falling event sources are the same signal, which can be, for example but not limited to, a PWM signal with a desired period and duty cycle. The COG module can convert this single input signal into at least two complementary output signals. The frequency and duty cycle of the at least two output signals substantially match the frequency and duty cycle of the single input signal. Abstract

The present invention relates to a complementary output generator COG module that produces at least two complementary outputs determined by rising and falling event sources. In a simple configuration of the COG module, the rising and falling event sources are the same signal, the same signal having the desired period and duty cycle. The COG module converts this single signal input into a dual complementary output. The frequency and duty cycle of the dual output substantially match the frequency and duty cycle of the single input signal. Blanking and deadband times can be introduced between the complementary outputs, and the dual complementary outputs can also be phase-delayed. Additionally, the COG module can provide up to four outputs for controlling half-wave and full-wave bridge power applications.
