The electronic device comprises: an ultrasonic transmitter, a speaker, and at least a microphone. The method comprises: transmitting, by the ultrasonic transmitter that controls the electronic device, an ultrasonic wave to a first space at one side of a first surface of the electronic device by using the speaker, so as to form a collection area in the first space; obtaining a feedback signal of the ultrasonic wave by using the at least one microphone of the electronic device; processing a feedback signal obtained in each of the at least one microphone, so as to determine an input operation of an operating body in the collection area; and generating a control instruction corresponding to the input operation based on the input operation. According to the method, the control instruction is responded, so that the input operation of the operating body can be recognized while a user does not need to directly contact the electronic device. A requirement on surrounding light intensity is relatively lower, so that a probability of erroneous operation when the surrounding light intensity of the electronic device is relatively low is reduced, and user experience is improved.
