Abstract

The invention relates to a system for encapsulating and thermally managing battery cells in a battery module. The system includes at least one extruded aluminum or aluminum alloy profile (40) provided with a plurality of heat transfer fins (42) arranged spaced apart from each other. A plurality of battery cells (1) are mounted in said at least one profile (40) in thermal contact with heat transfer fins (42). A heat transfer medium is arranged in thermal contact with said at least one profile (40) such that thermal energy is conducted from the battery cell (1) to or from said heat transfer fluid through said aluminum or aluminum alloy profile (40) conducted to the battery cell.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a system for packaging and thermal management of a processing unit. Background technique [0002] The working life of a rechargeable battery cell depends significantly on the temperature of the battery cell during the working life. In order to obtain the longest possible working life of the battery cell, its working temperature should be kept at a certain level or within a certain temperature range during operation. Charging or discharging a battery cell generates heat energy that must be conducted away from the battery cell as efficiently as possible. Furthermore, in some cases it is desirable to be able to warm the battery cells in order to bring them to a desired operating temperature. Meanwhile, during charging or discharging of the battery, the internal resistance of the battery terminal forms loss energy, which is converted into heat energy. This thermal energy should also be conducted away. Therefore, the mos...
