The method for adjusting the coefficient center of the adaptive equalizer includes the steps of: obtaining an input coefficient required by the adaptive equalizer, and monitoring whether offset of the coefficient center of the input coefficient occurs relative to the tap coefficient center; if offset occurs, adjusting the input coefficient; and filtering input data corresponding to the adjusted input coefficient, and performing interpolation and deletion processing is performed on output data after filtering. The invention also discloses a device for adjusting the coefficient center of the adaptive equalizer, the method and device for adjusting the coefficient center of the adaptive equalizer can realize effectively control of the input coefficient of the adaptive balancer, and enables the coefficient center of the input coefficient to be stabilized in the position of the tap coefficient center, thereby improving stability of a system, and reducing the error rate of the system.
