Abstract

Peelable protective covers and related components / systems and methods are disclosed. A protective sheath can be applied to the balloon catheter to protect the balloon and any coating on the balloon. The cover can be peeled off for easier cover removal. The peelable protective sheath can be inserted into the hemostatic valve and introducer while still disposed over the balloon of the balloon catheter to protect the balloon and any bioactive coating on the balloon from damage during insertion. The peelable protective sheath can be peeled off proximally to initiate removal. Optionally, the peelable protective sheath can be peeled away from the distal end of the peelable protective sheath as the balloon catheter is inserted through the hemostasis valve and introducer.
