[0035] figure 1 An electric machine 2 is shown, which is operated by means of a frequency converter 4 . Motor 2 is three-phase. In other words, the motor 2 is energized by means of three lines 6 , each of which is in electrical contact with a bridge branch 8 of the frequency converter. The positive pole 10 is in electrical contact with the negative pole 12 of the frequency converter 4 by means of the bridge branches 8 connected in parallel, which essentially have a constant DC voltage U of 1200 V high between them. This is ensured by means of intermediate circuit capacitors 14 which are connected in parallel to the individual bridge branches. Each bridge branch here includes two semiconductor switches 16 connected in series, each in the form of an IGBT. As an alternative to this, a freewheeling diode is connected in parallel to the IGBT. Contacting with the respective line 6 takes place between the two semiconductor switches of the respective bridge branch 8 .
