Abstract

The invention provides a method for producing float plate glass and an apparatus for producing float plate glass. The method and apparatus can inhibit bubbles generated from molten metal in joints of bottom bricks, and reduce bubble disadvantages of the bottom surface of glass ribbon. The invention relats to a method for producing float plate glass. The mehtod comprises the following steps: a glass raw material 11 is thrown into a dissolution tank 10 in order to prepare molten glass 12; molten glass 12 is contiuously supplied to the surface of molten metal 13 accommodated in tub 20 of a bottom casing 22A that has bottom bricks 21A and covers bottom bricks 21A, and the molten glass 12 flows at a predetermined direction along the surface of the molten metal 12, so a strip-shaped glass ribbon 14 is formed. The method is characterized in that a nozzle 32C injects fluid to an external surface 22B of the bottom casing 22A in order to cool the exteranl surface 22B, and a vibration absorbing member 38 absorbs vibration transmitted from the nozzle 32C to the bottom brick 21A.
