The invention provides a hue-based volume-flexible color two-dimensional code stream data communication method and system. The method comprises the following steps: obtaining color recognition rate of a picture shooting device, and finding the number of colors in the device when the two-dimensional code capacity can be maximized; carrying out original data segment according to the selected optimal color quantity and adding check bit and a mask; carrying out color mapping with data by utilizing a color set obtained through a color generation algorithm and generating a color two-dimensional code; finding a two-dimensional code positioning pattern in each picture and carrying out positioning on each color block; carrying out color identification according to each color plate in the code; and finally, carrying out mapping between the identified colors and the corresponding data, and obtaining transmitted data after check and mask removal.
