Abstract

The invention discloses an apparatus and method for simulating local discharge defect of a transformer. The apparatus includes a power transformer, a voltage regulator and an implantable discharge source. The voltage regulator and the implantable discharge source are both connected to the power transformer. A low-voltage winding coil of the power transformer has head and tail ends disconnected, and the tail end is in separate connection to an x end, a y end and a z end which are arranged outside a housing through a 10kV sleeve. A high-voltage voltage-regulating coil of the power transformer has a first, a fourth, and a seventh voltage-regulating gear which are connected to the outside of the transformer through a 35kV sleeve and are connected to the implantable discharge source. The apparatus changes the connection of the windings inside the transformer, has low cost and is easy to use. The apparatus can simulate all kinds of local discharge types at different positions inside the transformer, can reflect local discharge inside the transformer, conduces to timely finding and maintenance of local discharge breakdown of the transformer, and prolongs service life of the transformer.
