Problems solved by technology

Third, the cam lock cannot be pre-installed by the manufacturer, which increases the time it takes for the user to complete the assembly of the product
Fourth, the cam lock is prone to loosening and can come out of its assembled position, causing the product to eventually fall apart if the user does not tighten the cam lock regularly
Fifth, the cam lock is visible after the product is assembled, thereby depressing the aesthetic appeal and value of the product
[0006] try picture Other fasteners to overcome the dilemma of cam locks have failed as they are impractical as cannot be successfully installed in products using high speed commercial machines

Embodiment Construction

[0123] The descriptions above and below and the appendices to this document picture Focus is placed on one or more presently preferred embodiments of the invention, and some exemplary optional features and / or alternative embodiments are also described. Instructions and attached picture out of picture for purposes of illustration and not limitation. Those of ordinary skill in the art will recognize variations, modifications, and substitutions. Such variations, modifications and substitutions are also within the scope of the present invention. Section headings are summary and for convenience only.

[0124]Embodiments of the present invention are ideally made from plastic or metal composite materials. Sheet metal type designs can be constructed from aluminum or steel. Metal implementations are used when shear strength is required for a particular structure, or in higher temperature environments so the fastener does not plasticize. It could potentially be made of other mate...

Abstract

The invention relates to a channel lock fastener and a fastening system. A friction fit fastening system, that creates a firm and invisible connection between panels or substrates without the use of tools or glue, comprising a fastener and mating rout. The fastener has a ramp element that allows it to slide and connect to a mating rout. Different routs are used for different embodiments of the fasteners. The rout is formed directly in the panel face or edge or formed on a substrate by a router bit that has three cutting edges. The connections made by the friction fit fastening system are invisible. The fasteners can be installed at the manufacturing site so the user simply slides or inserts the fasteners into the appropriate slot or hole when assembling. The friction fit fastening system is easily removable from the panels making assembling and disassembling quick and easy because the fastener is made of one piece.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to fasteners; more particularly, to tool-less fastening systems for furniture, cabinets, fixtures, wood, plastic, metal, and various substrates. The invention also relates to the use of fasteners in one format or another for a tight friction fit with associated fastening elements. Background technique [0002] When the fasteners do not secure the panels or pieces to each other, the collapse of furniture, cabinets, bookshelves, support structures, trim, etc. can cause severe damage to walls or destroy valuables. [0003] The increasing commercialization of DIY furniture requires faster and easier assembly of furniture, cabinets, fixtures and many other wood and plastic products at the point of sale. Additionally, increased shipping costs have pushed furniture makers in good standing to ship their products in a more cohesive manner to reduce overall freight volumes. There is no cost-effective way to quickly assemble a prod...
