The method comprises the steps: 1) preparing a spline housing and a spline hoop; 2) sleeving a to-be-processed cam shaft workpiece by the spline hoop, wherein the spline hoop and the to-be-processed cam shaft workpiece are fixed together; 3) processing a locating blind hole and a locating threaded hole in the spline hoop; 4) sleeving the large end of an inner hole of the spline housing into the end portion of the to-be-processed cam shaft workpiece and connecting the spline housing to the spline hoop by virtue of a locating pin and a threaded pin; 6) clamping the assembled spline housing, spline hoop and to-be-processed cam shaft workpiece on a gear slotting machine, and taking down the spline housing after a slotting cutter aligns the internal spline tooth; and 7) inserting the spline to the end surface of the to-be-processed cam shaft workpiece.
