Abstract

The embodiments of the present invention provide a resource management method and device. The method comprises that a resource management device obtains status parameters of a plurality of VNFs comprised by an E2E network; according to the status parameters, a first to-be-expanded VNF and a first resource capacity required for expansion are determined in the plurality of VNFs; if idle resource capacity in a resource pool is smaller than the first resource capacity, then according to the status parameters, the resource management device determines a first to-be-compressed VNF in the plurality of VNFs, and compresses the first to-be-compressed VNF according to the first resource capacity; and if the idle resource capacity in the resource pool is larger than or equal to the first resource capacity after the resource management device compresses the first to-be-compressed VNF, the resource management device expands the first to-be-expanded VNF. By means of the embodiments of the present invention, a balanced allocation of resources among VNFs in the E2E network is ensured under conditions of insufficient idle resources, and thus, resource utilization and the service success rate of the E2E network are improved.
